The Sydney Gay 2002 Gay Games VI and Cultural Festival will be held in October/November this year with an expected 14,000 competitors and 25,000 international and interstate visitors. There are 31 sports being played across 45 venues, plus 16 participatory cultural events.

Tickets have gone on sale and events such as the Opening Ceremony, Physique, Aquatics Day Passes, the Sunset Party and Sing Out to the World are selling fast. The Closing Celebration is free as are many of the 31 sports being played. For more information visit the web site www.sydney2002.org.au

As mentioned by Brendon when he spoke at MAG on 8th June, if you really want to be part of the excitement they have approx 5,000 volunteer roles and 3,500 volunteer performer roles available. These include meet and greet at the airport for the early risers, locker room attendants at Physique, crowd control for the Opening Ceremony.

For a full list of roles visit their web site of www.sydney2002.org.au and complete the volunteer registration form. If you do not have access to the Internet, please visit David’s Information Table at any MAG meetings and collect a volunteers form. There is a role for you. The job of matching process starts in July, so the faster you register, the better your chances of securing your dream Gay Games Volunteer role.

All at MAG wish the Gay Games in Sydney much success. Attending games venues, being a volunteer, or housing a visitor is a way of showing your support and making the Games a great success. You can contact the Gay Games Office on 9235 7074, or visit the Information Centre at 92 Oxford Street, Darlinghurst, which is just up from Crown Street, going towards the Oxford Hotel; or visit their web site, as mentioned above.
